Herein, porous materials will be compared with membrane proteins for ion conduction in an aqueous environment as a function of external conditions (potential gradient, pH, etc.), which comprises the following objectives/tasks:

·        Identification of membrane proteins and bioinformatics screening

·        Computational study of ion transport and water uptake in MOFs, and

·        Computational study of ion transport in membrane proteins
